I don't like Les Pauls because they are too heavy. I like really light guitars like strats. I got my Ibanez because it was very light (good for jumping around stage) and I found a kickass offer online to price match it at the guitar center.
With out an amp with distortion options, my guitar wouldn't be that much, but I like it anyway. If I get a new guitar, I will probably get a strat. But if I could get any guitar, I would get a John Lennon style epiphone casino. Gawdalmighty, If I was to play Get back on one of those, whoooooooooooooooooodoggy! Their only 3000 bucks a pop.
The only problem with casinos is they have no high fret slot for you hand so you can't do much High fret stuff like I like to do.

Why is that? I like hollow bodies because they have really good tone.

LP's are the best widely famous guitar out there.... they have better construction, are more reliable, have better pickups, and they really just feel better to hold.... the weight is a constant reminder of the greatness.
that said, i still like my godin better

i love hollowbodies, just not anything epiphone. my first guitar was a epiphone LP 100. it NEVER stayed in tune, yes gibsons and epiphones sound damn good, but THEY NEVER STAY IN TUNE!
Did you have one with a peg bridge or a hole bridge? Peg bridges can be nasty on tuning, especially before the strings are stretched out properly.

I rarely have to tune my LP...
The only thing I have to watch is when I switch between Drop D and standard...I have to remember to retune the higher strings b/c of the tailpiece...
Does anyone know any good hollowbodies that have the slot for high fret playing that are not too expensive but have good tone?

i had an epiphone les paul for a year or too and hated it, mine would never stay in tune especiallt the damned g string, to switched to a tele (the best desicion of my life)

And we see faces walking back
Tonight everybody gonna remember
Remember in time...
Whats really the big difference, tone-wise, between a strat and a tele? If I get another guitar some day, it will probably be one of those two.

Ernie Ball Music Man John Petrucci Signature Model
Forget the Model name but it was my father's old Guild Hollowbody he played as a kid. He revamped it and it has never sounded the same (worse not better)
