Was listening to some dave and tim stuff today. was just wondering if you all think he stings his dreads with the exp 15 he is supposed to use. just curious cause some stuff sounds pretty deep.
I've also wondered why his strings often sound dead, such as Everyday/36 off The Gorge, you would think he has brand new strings on but it sure doesnt sound like it

He said his strings on his dread, not his strings are dead.
Dreadnaughts are designed for a much deeper, richer tone than the Grand Auditorium style Taylor he playes.
This alone can explain the difference in tone. Amplification and processing also can have alot to do with it. Even if the strings are the same.

I know, I was just adding that I think his strings often sound somewhat dead to me, along with being deep.

also keep in mind about the gorge release, they had audio problems recording it clearly (and video), so some of the dead sounds from that release may just come from the odd acoustics of that place (great in person, I've heard, though).
