but you can only go so far just playing his stuff, trust meJamesMatthews wrote:I know, but if we love it? Should we stop here?
I don't think so. And Dave is good enough to make me learn a lot.
I'm not a fanatic you know
I don't sleep with a dave miniature beside me
and why do you keep making these assumptions that we are all fanatics and obsessed with dave? thats a pretty unfair statment, especially coming from someone who refuses to play anything but dmb tunes

Me and my friends just love to play Dave Matthews... We don't want to play some Elvis or CCR shits... I just want to know wich tunes I should play... don't tell me to play GooGoo Dolls, I play DMB with this band...

For us living any other ways was nuts. with all the goodie-goodies working shitty jobs for bum pay checks, took the subway work and worried about their bills were dead. they were suckers, they had no balls. if we wanted something we just took it, and if anybody complained twice they got hit so hard believe me they never complained again

what ive learned from a certain experienced, talented and knowledgable musician is that regardless of if you "like" a certain style of music, learning stuff in that style can still help you and make you a better musician. for example, i dont like country, but i still try to immitate basslines on country songs to get the feel of it...i still hate it, but i do its good practice and broadens your horizons. the broader knowledge you have the more you can.
