it is real short...I think it is 2 min or less, but I just hit the record button and improv'd this tune...
to set the mood, it is nightime distant from the coast of the carribean (sp?) and you are on a large sail shipe staring up at the stars......hthis is what you hear in your head...
the carribean thing along with improv reminds me of an improv outro i did for crash into me...
but uh, anyway, it sounded great. you're doing a lot more with bottom strings lately, it seems, like from the keller song and now this. i'm diggin' it, though.
but it is a very mellow song. the volume swells were great...did remind me of the ocean pushing you slowly along the backwaters of the world, and the wonderment of the sky dancing around in your head, the moon and the stars flickering some distance away.
on a few of the slaps, you kinda either missed or just didn't make the notes real clear... maybe not slap so much to give it a more varied tone... the volume swells were nice, but the overall melody kinda had no direction, maybe thats what you were going for, but i doubt anyone would want to listen to the song over and over because of this

I am not going for billboards top 20 here...nor is it supposed to be, "man, I gotta hear that one again!!!"
it is a mellow trck that has NO REAL DIRECTION to it...just an aura
thats what i thought (about the purpose of the song), its your own thing and you did it well. but a song doesn't need to be a billboard top 20 song to catch people's interest

thanks man...and I know, you would think it to be in an alternate tuning, but I am just using a bunch of false harmonics...you should learn how to do them if you don't already...with your style, it would come in very handy...especially when you just add a tad here and there for flaunting
NoNotThat wrote: I really liked that. It was calm and sweet...
calming huh...you should wait til I get all my originals back on my site...there is 2 songs that I think sound more calming of my limited dozen or so originals...I mean I names the one Sweet Dreams! lol...but thank you for the comments...I appreciate the encouragement
OH yea i love false harmonics. At least i think i do(i didnt know thats what they were called). Are they where you fret a note and hit a harmonic 12 frets above it? Ive also had some cool effects with hitting it 7 frets above the intintial note.
yep...lol...I am also working on playing soemthing...and useing my left hand to hold a chord, and then use my right hand to hammer onto onother part and make funny chords that sound real original...
yea i love those, but sometimes my hand cramps up, but i imagine that will fade. I think chet atkins was the master of those harmonics, but michael hedges did some amazing things with them also. Do you listen to hedges?
Hey Fire download to this!
its a video clip of hedges playing live(solo), it will definatley give you some cool ideas about different techniques- http://www.rootwitch.com/MP3/87_11_16n1.mpg
