reading tabs......

hey guys i'm new here. just had a quick question (i'm sure its a stupid one to most of you) on reading tabs.

i was courious in the example above what the numbers below the line were for. The 2,1,2,(4), and 2. Any help would be great. Thanks

Ok here's a question? when someone replys to a question, then the next person just quotes what the previous person has just said, why do you do this? Its been bugging me for months! Is it just to emphasise it? or are people being funny or what, i dont get it? Thanks
