Any one care to explain why there are so many damn posts about John Mayer, i know hes a good guitar player (i have seen him at Crossroads and in concert) but hes not THAT damn good. Listen to Johnny Winter, Michael Kellsey, Frank Zappa (shut up and play yer guitar), not to mention Jimmy Page, Hendrix etc. Get off Mayyer's nuts and listen to some real mother fuckers lay it down.

I'm just saying let people like what they like, and don't try to tell them what to post. People post specific things because they're looking for answers and information, and John Mayer comes up repeatedly because a lot of people on this site like his music.

that is because people like to post things in a designated area...its called the "Daves Guitar Discussion".

Have you tried to play Johns solo's? Like Covered in Rain (AGT) or His cover of Bold As Love? They are put together so well. The sound hwo the song is. What more would you want?

ummm, dont think that I dont know my guitarists. I know of guitarists that are much better then him. And yes, all of those that you listed before are better, but I have heard him doing shows with nothing but blues. They are crazy. Besides, Buudy Guy wouldnt let just "anybody" play a gig with him.

i couldnt agree with you more on that note, the show i went to he started with some song that sound like Lionel Richie wrote, and then progressed to some of the best live blues i have heard in a long time. Mayer needs to ditch the fucking body is a wonderland and go straight blues.

He doesnt need to "ditch" anything. I like his "pop" stuff. A lot of people do. Just because peoples opinions differ then yours doesnt mean that youre right and they are wrong.

it still comes down to personal preference, is yngwie malmsteen and a talented guitarist? yea, but do i like his music, no. people listen to what they do because they like it not because "music experts" like yourself listen to only the most talented people.
