Yeah, I get it, but I want to have it as close as possible. What "matters in the end" is that since I haven't seen a video of Dave playing it, I posted a thread asking a simple question, not an invite for stupid tough guy posts.
that was rather harsh, wasn't it?
i know this is a dave matthews site and everything, but if you want to start writing songs of your own (like your profile says) you need to stop having the mindset that you must "play it like dave". kanter's tabs are helpful, but if you feel that you must play the songs just like dave on all his songs, you are doomed to emulate rather than create.

Ok, I didn't mean to really sound that harsh, but it seemed, from the way I read it, that geekmug was trying to be an ass himself, and if he wasn't, I sincerely apologize.
The whole point that I was trying to make was that I wanted to learn the song as close to the way Dave plays it, because I do want to learn more from his style. As an example, say that for all of Dave's songs I just used open chords in place of every chord the he used...that wouldn't help me broaden my style at all. This is what I am trying to get at. I could substitute chords all over his songs, but that wouldn't be any fun.
I can't believe that we would lie in our graves wondering if we had spent our living days well, and I can't believe that we would lie in our graves dreaming of things that we might have been...

of course not, open chords suck, broaden your horizons, fun...here comes the finger drill from my guitar instructor...right into your head...he'll drill fun into you like a gonad spewing squirrel.
