Anybody like old Bartender more?

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Anybody like old Bartender more?

The old D@T style slower version, like the old intro to DDTW...I sure do...

EDIT: Maybe this should be in the General DMB Discussion...feel free to move it...

Hell yes....I first heard Bartender at the concert I went to April of 2002. This may sound stupid, but it just sounded so much more "spiritual"...or at the very least pure

I think it could have worked well as a song itself, but as long as Dave kept the old picking guitar part, not that slapping like it is now, and the much more melodic vocals, instead of the screaming that gets annoying. In a nutshell, the way it is on Storytellers...

maybe, but I'd always feel cheated if once bartender was over with no DDTW following.

I thought the screaming was cool at first, but now it seems kind of forced and repetitive, but still very action packed, the way it is now is far less boring so i like it better. just my .02$

the old way was cool for D&T shows, but the version on BS is pretty darn boomin and energetic!

the new bartender on busted stuff is pretty sweet i think... especially from about 7:00 on, where he doodles around with the D and the 0-3-4-5-5-x (G variation?) chord during leroi's penny whistle solo. i have the "official" album tab book, and its interesting to see how he improvises.

another 2 cents thrown in...

being a tab book, I would be shocked to find out if it actually shows what Dave plays.

tab books may not show what dave plays exactly, but it has the right notes (just in different positions) and you can't beat the usefulness of standard music notation. also, i have all but the busted stuff book, and some songs on the others actually have what dave plays (for instance trippin billies)

Yeah Billies is pretty close, and a lot of songs in the book are good. LIOG, Let you Down and Cry Freedom I think are all almost right on.

I haven't found anything in the tab books that help with Dave's style more than this site. The only thing they could be good for are Tim's fills and solos. If you are just looking to learn how Dave plays his songs, stick with the site.

I definitely like the older D+T bartender better. I got tired of the full band version and sort of rediscovered it when i downloaded an old D+T show from antsmarching. Oh and the newer D+T bartender is ok but I think they drag it out too long, I would love to hear it as an intro to DDTW again, its just awesome
