How am I the first one to mention Alice in Chains??? They tune down a half step for just about every one of their songs. When you play them on acoustic they sound sweet. My friends and I have recorded a few covers, and posted one (Nutshell) awhile back.

I've done this a couple of times, it makes the guitar sound a little more gruff, I like it. A lot of rock songs, especially from the early 90's are 1/2 step down.Dan5290 wrote:...and it is soooooooo much easier to sing with it. So much better, in fact, that I plan to leave it tuned this way. Now, I have two questions:
1. Do any of you do this?
2. Will it hurt my guitar in any way?
This will not damage your guitar to my knowledge.

fret the 6th fret string of the E and tune down til it matches the A string, that string is now an Eb, fret the 5th fret on the E and tune the A string to match it, proceed like normal
