Wow...having an amp makes all the difference

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Dave uses a Fishman gold plus natural on his Martin guitars and A Fishman acoustic matrix on his taylors. It really doesn't matter what kind of pickup comes with an electric acoustic, as long as it sounds good. It helps if the pickup has a good preamp (with little switches) on it.

Of course Dave uses an expensive preamp as well. This matters a great deal in terms of tone.

Raised B in my amp sounds pretty good. Just retunned last night. Fun stuff. YNK is hard though!

The best way is to mic the guitar at the neck joint. If you're recording, it's good to have two pencil condensers pointed at the joint making a "V" shape, then pan them hard and make the mix nice later.

He is right ! one mic @ 30 degrees to sound hole @ 15th fret and the other opposite!

well, on some songs the added amplified sound adds a little extra bass, kinda nice.

Bullshit. That's all opinion based. I think it sounds great. I recorded in my cousins studio with a mic & it sounded fucking awesome. It was a really expensive mic though.
