The problem here is that Mraz is one of the best vocalist's out there right now and few of his songs are easy to sing. There's a definate melody to this song even when he's "rapping" as you put it.
If you're serious about singing find a teacher. Almost everyone is born with the physical ability to sing. People who sing well without having taken lessons were born with the natural understanding of how to control the physicality of it. They don't have "better" vocal chords than you they just know how to use them.
the biggest problem (and i know you warned me against it) with this song waht breathing. i even had to cut out some words to keep from passin out.
he must use circular breathing or maybe he just has bigger lungs than me.
i do love his vocals though
thanks for the comments mike
I hope that was a joke.

twas

I don't know many girls who think Mraz is ugly. Actually I don't know any.
The rythm was solid, but it sort of lacked the character Mraz gives it. Gotta use the fingers and hit the highs.
I thought the lead was good on this one. It didn't sound like you were trying to do too much...which I felt you did on most of your other stuff. My roommate (really good at guitar) used to always say the best guys know when NOT to play. Good job.
Singing was...well it wasn't singing. It was speaking. You need to try to get into the feel of the song. Well up some emotions, associate with what the artist is trying to get across through the melody and the lyrics.

try to do it an octave higher Andy. I know it might burst your vocal range, but would make it sound a lot better. on this low pitch it sounds like rapping.
as for the guitar, I think a pretty decent job you made.

I guessed so.. you could try playing it on a different key, like 1 or two full steps higher. either with the capo or by adjusting the chords.
I need to adjust the key for a hell of a lot of songs, because I wouldn't be able to sing them otherwise. Works fine most of the time.
