i was actually looking into the DM model in particular because i like the action. but any feedback on any of the dm series martins would be great.

DM isn't great, but not a waste of money. If I were you, I would save up more, but if you don't want to wait long, it's not bad. I think you might want to look at Takamine or Alverez in that price range

save up another 100 or so dollars and get something that is all solid wood, like the d-15 or something.

The DM won't be effected as much as a solid wood Martin by temperature. For road use, the DM series can take a beating.

Acoustics to me, are about tone. The DM model has a decent tone and for the price, it's not a bad buy. I'd recommend saving more $ for a better model, but like I said, for the price, the sound you get with the DM is alright.

There are no fancy trimmings or anything like that, but I really don't care about "looks" - it's about sound and feel.

If I were you I would go one step up to a DX, just because it has the solid top. Solid tops make a huge difference in tone, moreso than back and sides. The DX is still just about as rugged as a DM (just the top would be more likely to crack) and has the same action/playability.

I'd go for a DX over a DM, but gain if you can't afford the DX, the DM still is alright.

dm has a solid top

The DX is a "lower" model than the DM and the DX is HPL laminate. It can take more abuse I'd think than the DM.

Yeah just now see that..........I don't know what I'm thinking, I thought DM was the line without a solid top...........blah

O well, regular laminate is a little brighter i think than HPL, so it wouldn't be a bad idea to play both side by side if possible, see which one you like better. It's all different to everyone's ear.

There is a 1999 d28 for sale at my work for $2000 CND with a case. I'm not really looking for a guitar, but I'll always explore options. What do you guys think? He says it's in mint condition
