Let you down has let us down

Post by Davy28 »

What ever happened to Let you down? It's such a sexy, beautiful song but DMB never plays it anymore, except as an occasional tease. Carter would need only to play the bongos. I haven't seen it in years.

Forget about the notion that our emotions can be swept away, kept at bay
Forget about being guilty, we are innocent instead
For soon we will all find our lives swept away

Maybe Carter and Leroi could whistle together and get a harmony going, like Carter does when he sings with dave.

maybe they could just skip the song and all whistle the solo around one mic...that would be really gay and dumb, but funny.

Jeez, I didn't know people hated it so much. I always used to call it the foreplay song before I even knew what the title was.

Cant stand the song but i agree with the whistling comments, theres something undeneably attractive about whistling.

Heh; I don't hate it. Just one of the last songs that even comes to mind when I think of DMB.

There could only be one reason why they have almost never played it live, and your reason could be it. I think people dislike the song for the same reason harsh critics dislike the Crash album in general: Many of the songs are not creative (In relation to UTTAD), and the album is not an overall huge step up from UTTAD. I love it, because I am a dedicated fan of DMB, but I see why many think that. To them, Let You Down is just another Lover Lay Down. Two Step is another Warehouse. Proudest Monkey is another Satellite. LIOG is another Ants Marching. I feel like a shithead for saying that, but the realization is sobering. I'm just sticking by my guns when I say that LYD is my favorite of DMBs pure unadulterated love songs. To play and to sing. I don't think that it gets the recognition that it deserves, live-playing wise, and I dearly hope that it is played at the gorge. Nine days and counting.
