Different way to do a part of granny

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

that's really not true in most cases...
Yes it is. Looke at When the World Ends or the chorus to Grey Street, Two Step. Its obvious his way of doing it makes it easier to do things later in the song.

And how arrogant of you to say a way that an artist does something is wrong or redundant. He is obviously a better musician than you if he has a record deal and you dont.
I very much consider myself a better guitarist than Dave Matthews. No exaggeration whatsoever.
I agree Dave isnt the best guitarist is the world, but he isnt bad either.

I think its kind of very arrogant and stupid to come to a Dave board and talk about how stupid Daves way of playing is, whether you are better than him or not.

And when I say musician, that means more than just guitar playing. It has to do with lyrics and the manner of playing. People must obviously like his way better than yours.
or they just haven't heard my way yet...ha...and no, I don't consider it arrogant...I didn't say he's bad, but he does a lot of stupid, unnecessary crap too...I wouldn't be here if I didn't have some semblance of respect for him but that doesn't mean I'm not going to critique the stuff I don't like...
I'm sorry, but you may think you are, but you most likely are not. Dave has been playing for a much longer, and has a hell of alot more experience. And how can you possibly know you are better than him? You never see him in his alone time. You don't even know him.

Haha that reminded me of the latina girl in Pablo Francisco's crazy girlfriend skit.

Thought Pat has a point, some musicians don't showcase their stuff like others. You never know what kinds of crazy shit they come up with when they sit down with the guitar.

despite his years in general playing, I bet you I've taken a lot more lessons from some top rated instructors/pro musicans than he has in his lifetime...

I'm just saying that you cannot say that you are better than a guitar that you don't even know. You have never sat down and played with them one on one.

if I said I was better than someone you didn't like you wouldn't have a problem with it.

guys, if dave was such a great guitarist Im sure that by now..we would have seen something a hell of a lot hard that what he has done. If he is so great, Im sure that sometime in the 15 years he has been popular...he would use chords that are not as basic as the ones he uses. He has been using the same ones for 15 years. There are no songs that he has written that would prove that he is a "incredibly talented" guitarist.

When I say all this, Im talking purely on talent. He has more musicianship then most people out there making popular music. But musiciansship has nothing to do with talent.

I'd say he has the talent of writing catchy songs moreso than musicianship myself...

I was talking about guitar talent. What I find catchy is his lyrics and their rythms. However, during jams he shows musicianship by playing what would best fit the song.

he does what he does...he does enough to be Dave Matthews but he's not someone who anyone would bring in as a "guest guitarist" or "backup gutiarist..."
