Scofield is at the top of his game no doubt.

Zakk Wylde I just saw him at ozzfest, he's without a doubt better than Hendrix. Lyndsay Buckingham is pretty good so is James Taylor. Ted Nugent, Billy Gibbons, Page, Hendrix, Gilmour, i'm gonna throw Jack Black on here for shits and giggles, Joe Walsh, Townshend, Clapton is definetly all time God at guitar he can play any style of music and make it sound good he can play electric and acoustic and have them both sound incredible.
Guitars:
'03 Taylor 614ce SS
'02 Martin D-1
'99 Gibson Les Paul '54 Historic Re-Issue Gold Top

C'mon guys Dave Matthews. Just kiddin. I have to partially agree with Scofield, but go with Walter Becker, as he is pretty much a jazz guitar genius. Maybe not that far, but currently he is my favorite

C'mon you guys are just listing contemporary players for the most part, The blues Guitarists like Robert Johnson, and Sunhouse, The jazz guitarists like Reinhardt, christian, montgomery, the flatpicker Doc watson, the fingerstylist John fahey.

Clapton, Gilmour, hendrix, page, none of them would exist without those players to set them up

Sorry to be stupid and nitpicky, but it's Son House. You gotta include Joe Pass in those jazz guitarists, he was amazing.

i did read the previous posts, and some of you seem to have real contenders, but Zakk wylde doesnt deserve to be anywhere near this list,

any professional jazz guitarist working the circuit is better then james taylor!
