i would point of the syntactical errors in that sentence, but saying it has any syntax would be an insult to the english langauge.
I can't figure you out Jack, sometimes you're mean, sometimes you're wise, sometimes you're funny. I guess I'll just stick to 'dynamic'???

how about "honest." honesty can be any of the three things you said, depending upon the situation and how thin-skinned someone is

but instead of pondering over my character, you could be like most people and just not give a fuck

Honesty is not always warranted. For example, a hypothetical situation. I'll use your (Fj) avatar.

What if somebody had said after looking at your Av "you look like the ugliest pice of shit I've ever seen" or what if I was honest with my boss and told him " I thought he was an asshole"?

The first example will make you somewhat self conscious (if you actually care) and the second instance would get me fired.

There is a time to be honest... such as "I really don't think your song is good & I think you should work on the verse alot more."

But, just to be outwardly honest in every situation will hurt you more than it will help.

And that concludes another opinion by Jellyfish.

yes, honesty can get me fired. but me being honest on a message board wont affect me in real life. thats why i come here, so i can be honest when actual life wont allow me to be

Meh. The syntax is okay, but the punctuation is horrendous enough to give the impression of syntactical errors.
Observe:
"Well, depending on the lyrics you write, chances are your verse and chorus will have different root chords."

See? It's correct, it just lacks artistry.

praisedave i dont think singing and getting the note is a good thing... that would take a lot of vocal knowledge to hit the right note. if you cant sing well, then your process is veryy messed up.

If you can't at least carry a tune, then you should probably work on that before you start writing songs.

but if you plan on singing it, all you have to do is sing into the tuner and it tells you the note you're singing, match it to a chord and you're good to go. im not saying: well i want this to be a G so ill sing a G, cuz i cant do that. im saying sing it naturally and chord whatever the thing gives ya

usually I come up w/ the music first...here's my typical process...I'll think of an idea for a song topic wise and figure out where I want it to go musically, then I'll hash it out on guitar...I try to give every song it's own character...anyways, I usually already have some lyrics floating around in my head or a melody, so I start building off of that and then just work til it's done. For the few times I've done lyrics first...I just figure out a melody and then build the guitar part around it...I hum it or whatnot til I find that melody that works and it's usually enough of a guage to go on to get something descent on the guitar...I find when I write lyrics first though, my wongs don't take on a lot of character and are just kinda like every other song, but that's really just me b/c I think I think in standard pop melody, which is fine in a lot of ways, but I just like to do non-standard pop melodies...
