Damn, I wish my mom forced me to play. She always said "You won't play it" When in fact that meant, "I dont have money to buy you a guitar or send you to lessons"
about 3 years ago, i was flippin through the channels and saw dave playing where are you going, and i thought to myself "wow, this guy is good. i cant believe how he can play such a beautiful song, and sing so well... i gotta learn this!"
and the rest is history, now im a huge DMB fan, and playing guitar like crazy ever since.

hes not the only one who cares .. i do.... the reason i picked up a guitar was for fun..to learn stuff... not because of dave.. or chicks.. my parents never forced me...and when i started i dident even know who dave was..that was about 1.5 years ago
im tryin to remember exactly why i picked up my uncles old acoustic, and i think it was becuz after a 2 minute lesson i could play 7 nation army as good as jack white... i think i played it for like a week straight
I did it for the love of music. I already played the clarient, and I loved to sing (even though I was a bad singer at the time). My parents brought me up with nothing but music. I heard Neil Young, Jimmy Buffet, the Beatles, Bob Dyaln, Fleetwood Mac, Steve Earl, Tony Bennet, Bob Dylan, Dire Straits, Pink Floyd, Elton John, CCR, Bruce Springstein, Eric Clapton, Tom Petty, and more.
I just wanted to pick it up and play. But soon after, I realised this was going to be my profession, since I couldn't think about anything but playing guitar the whole day. It's been 5 years, day and day out of playing guitar whenever I can, just because I want to, and I still just can't see myself not writing music, not up onstage performing, not in a studio recording. I just want to be a musician, and nothing else.
