Dave's new mp3's...

Unread post by firedancer86 » Sat Jul 26, 2003 3:48 pm

ok...just had to share with somebody...this stuff is real sad :?
anybody else here em?

http://www.anyoneseenthebridge.com/msgb ... did=202427

Gravedigger - first off, I'm hoping they mix it ALOT better on te cd...what a sorry little rendition...overproduced sounding track that stands nowhere near the original live stuff...

Save Me - had to turn it off fast...to catch my breath...then put it back on...man...how little effort did he put into that one?

So Damn Lucky - is it just me, or is this Angel...only worse...I mean the melody line is a direct copy of the Angel verses...the ending is a little better, but c'mon Dave :?

I might not even buy the album now!
anyone else feel the same way?

Fire come on man...

Ok I admit Gravedigger is kinda screwy but So Damn Lucky is an awesome track and Save me is growing on me.
Give it a chance, it's something different.

You're starting to sound like gcom007......

FireDancer....as much as I hate to admit it, you are absolutely right :( ...

Dave was on K-rock yesterday morning in LA (GOING TO THE CONCERT TONIGHT!!!!) when I heard those songs...I was in my car listening to Save Me...after about 40 seconds, I had to turn it off because it was so disappointing...it's like you almost want to say, "Dave, please, please stop writing songs"..not really but you get the idea...what a sad story...but I will always, no matter what, think he's the greatest, even if all these new songs are garbage.

but yea, Gravedigger=Garbage
Save me = Major Garbage
and I'm guessing So Damn Lucky= Garbage

but hey, what are you gonna do?

But you gotta wonder..what inspired Dave to write THAT many good older songs.........seriously...when it comes to good music...DMB has written more great/hit songs than any band EVER...and thats the dead truth...if you don't believe it, there is something wrong with you... :D

I have nothing against the band...I still think Dave is the best singer/songwriter of this generation, but musicaly, this stuff is overproduced and lacking what I was expecting...they seem like they turned these songs into pop...I think Dave is getting too comfortable with "whatever I write" is gonna go platnum" and that dillusion is keeping him from writting any musical geneous songs like Minarets, Seek Up or #41... :?

hopefully he will wake up and realize he needs to put some effort back into his writing...and I hope Stay or Leave is not so watered down...

just my thoughts...

I agree...Save Me sounded like it had a beat box in the background...I never though I would say this, but I don't think I'll be buying this album either...

i really want to like his cd. i really, really do. but this stuff that i heard... it's like going from a career of making gold to a past time of making copper (wierd anology, but it's mine & i like it).
i really hope it cleans up. i'm not asking for a dmb album, i just want something good all the way through.
...and we're all thirsty
like drunks on Sunday
brooding like the blades of a fan on low speed
or a writer with only one good line.

I'm confused....did I get lost? Is this the bridge?
No...hmmm, could have fooled me. There's less negativity over at the bridge about the new stuff then there is here. :? ODD!
