two step help!

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

I've always thought the band/acoustic versions were the same rhythm...well, I'm pretty sure about that.

yeah, they are the same. sometimes he might play it a little faster or a little slower, but other than that not much variation. try playing along to the live at luther college version, the end song on disc 2. :) just gotta keep practicing your heart out. sure you'll get it, mate.

One-e-AND-a is the emphasis there. That's the trick. Start slow and speed up gradually. I recommend 9-11-92.

hehe. anywhere he can get it? ;) i think he'll probably want to make more of an effort to play it than spending effort searching for a version when he has a few readily available to him.

if you do a search on this site you'll find a few versions of the song that people have posted. that's what really put the song into focus for me, that and watching dave playing it in slow motion on listener supported.

Hey thats a good idea. But I strongly disagree that the acoustic versions and the band versions have the same rhythm. In the L@LC vesion, he strums more percussively the muted strings and makes the rhythm a kind of chicka-chicka-chicka-chicka sound. In the band version, he is mostly

trying to keep up with boyd and his violin strumming. It is very hard to tell.

true, but atleast you get the chords and movements down. that was my big thing with 2step, holding the chords correctly and sliding around smoothly. a lot like trippin' billies.

I have listened to the different versions many times and I actually believe in acoustic versions (more or less) he gets the palm mutes going......try and palm mute the low E and A strings, while occassionally hitting the G string on the upstroke......but let it ring more or less.....I hope that helps a little.
