First Dave Cover - #41 ****Less Hiss, New Vocals****

Post by Easy E »

Hey guys, I'm nervous about putting this one up, it's a tough one to sing and I'm not a great singer but I gave it a shot. let me know how it sounds, I know there is room for improvement so let me have it.

it was alright... the fuzz was kind of annoying, but at least you sang on key most of the song...

the playing and the singing was fine... unless you get something else to record it with, i don't see it getting any better...

Actually, I first listened to your Posters cover...I have always loved that song, and you did it pretty well...

Now, #41...Your intro is pretty solid. Your voice is a little quiet, I think it sounds like that just because of your recording quality, which is pretty poor. The guitar part is great during the verse, but a little less quality during the chorus...try to concentrate on accentuating certain strums, and your voice doesn't sound bad, you can hit the notes, but they should blend together better, like smoothness or whatever...good job.

So your saying i may need a a new microphone, gotcha. Oh I also wanted to point out that Posters was played on my $650 guitar and #41 was played on my $200 guitar while my other one sits unstrung at the moment. I'll probably record again when i finally get it restrung but I was impatient.

maybe it's the Mic, what program are you using to record?

Im using cool edit, but when i really filter all the hissing and everything it sounds really distant, like im recording from the bathroom down the hall. Even the Posters cover sounds like that to me, although it is better.

Oh, I use cool edit and just a basic computer mic, and my stuff sounds fine, so it is probably the mic, because i never have to filter anything

Ouch, string it with something if only just to keep the neck from flexing.. the truss rod was designed to counter string tension and is sitting there over bending the neck if there is no tension to counter.

41 isn't anywhere to be seen. Also, I was too lazy to read the rest of the thread.. soo if this has been said already... I dont care.

I'm meeting Jack Johnson and Ben Harper at The Gorge in August :) Backstage passes for this guy.
