So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Hey guys (and girls),
On the L@LC cd, when dave does the intro to this song, he messes around with the rhythm a little, hes so tricky. I guess my question is what the strumming pattern is for the verse, while he is singing. There isnt really an album version to turn to, so I come to you all for help...thanks

Which part are you talking about? "Hello, how are you doing...", or "We'll find doors..."?

in the intro he goes into the d slide a beat early every other time he does it...kinda tricky, but cool when you get it. but during the verse, he does the slide on beat just like he does the very first time he plays it. its hard to explain, maybe someone else can explain it to you better if that didn't help.

hey, on the verse/intro whatever, when he does the 3-2-x-, should there be something after the x?

actually, on the verse, also, he swithes up the timing, just as in the intro.

for the question about the x23x whatever, i think just hitting those notes should do it.

you must have a version i don't have then. becasue in every version ive heard, he plays the D slide on the 4th beat every time the same during the verse, but in the intro he plays the D slide between the 3rd and 4th beat every other time.

But anyway, if you get quick enough, hitting a few harmonics on (5)sometimes sounds cool.

if ya wanna do something cool sounding, try this:

Code: Select all

-------------------------
--------------*5*---*7*--
--------------*5*---*7*--
--------------*5*---*7*--
--------------*5*---*7*--
--3-3-3-2-0--------------

Wow... I never thought about doing Granny with 5 and 7 harmonics. I could only get a harmonic on 7 and 12 until I read this post and now they all sound good. That's weird.

I've done that for years, it really does sound pretty sweet, harmonics are money

In response to the original question, the rhythm pattern's the same as the intro, so find any recording and listen to that opening.
