Forget about the reasons and the treasons we are seeking
Forget about the notion that our emotions can be swept away, kept at bay
Forget about being guilty, we are innocent instead

Wow... I think there's a difference in learning as much as you can and going too far into analysis.

But whatever. Have fun.

Using the same process, I can make a pretty good guess as to what song he is playing. First I look at the guitar he is playing. Yamaha Country Jumbo. Then I look at his fretting hand. It looks like he is playing stay at first glance, which is a good guess, given that he used the jumbo to record the song and to play it in the music video, but he stopped using the jumbo live back in 1993 and only used it in the studio and for music videos there after. And since the photo is obviously not from the studio (No headphones, wires, etc), that combined with the country jumbo, which means the concert was circa 1993, Which rules out stay. But then I think of all the other songs where his fretting hand makes that same configuration. I know because I can honestly say I've played all of dave's songs. To confirm the time period, I look at how much hair dave has. His receeding hairline really became noticeable in 1996 when he would cut his hear very short. Its hard to tell, but it does not look like he has lost that much in that poster. So it has to be circa 1993. Which means, pending the covers he played at the time, it has to be from UTTAD or R2T. A closer look at his hands reveals that he is playing an E5 power chord, which, from the period, is only found in Warehouse and Minarets. So he is playing either of those two.

Watson, I think I have found the clue!
Now your thinking like a good dmb fan/stalker!! (like me)
Does anyone have the poster of dave playing the black check with a cigarette in his ear, he's wearing a gray sweater with a striped red/yellow shirt underneath? I always wonder what songs he's playing in the posters i have. What about the one with the physicidellic(sp wrong) green backround, wearing a yellow shirt, black chet.
I think its satellite in that one, the cigarette one i think is two step.

All for the greater glory of DMB. And by the way, post those posters if you want a professional like me to decipher the songs being played.

At the risk of sounding like a know-it-all, I will tell you what that was all about (Dave's dancing that is). This was during ASTB on night one. Why do I say this? Well, I was there for that and I remember Dave just going nuts and doing that crazy dance. The DVD doesn't show it, but it looked like he almost fell over while he was going nuts like that. I remember thinking, "man, I hope that's on the DVD" and I guess it sort of is.

Are you sure? In all the versions I have seen of ASTB, Dave is either scatting at the mike or dancing while playing his guitar for the whole of the segue. Even when he doesn't necessarily play the ninth chords he is strumming muted strings. I know there is a shot of carter in the background behind dave in that shot, and if I were to compare carter's drumming in central park ASTB (frame by frame) to his in the gorge 2002, it might help.

Yes, I'm very sure about this. Although you make a valid point, I VERY CLEARLY remember this. It was my first show so I kind of took it all in. If anyone else from these boards was at this show, please help me :)
