Anyone else having trouble singing to the prechorus to this song?

Like I can do it with the cd, but when I turn off the music and sing with only my guitar, I can't do it. Its a tough motherfucker. I'm generally able to mimic any noise with my voice, but this one is throwing me for a loop.

Keep in mind, this is only the prechorus:

Just takes a little control going up the register. Just keep practising it, you'll get it.

definetly tough. sing to the song itself and turn it down a little each time. you'll get it.
