You don't have to play the songs *exactly* as Dave plays them. I just get the general gist of them myself then toss my own creative spin on them (some may call this sucking) and they turn out fine as far as I'm concerned. I'd say it's a good thing to be able to put your own spin on someone else's tune, adds some spice and whatnot.
