play bass on an acoustic guitar?

i try and just play everything on the low e string

if you're talking about technique wise, get your playing fingers off the strings, pickguard etc. You want your fingers perpendicular with the strings and you want them to hang over them.

if what im getting at is correct, and what you mean by playing bass is kinda like finger picking, then no hand touching the body. on bass resting your thumb on the pickup is acceptable (:P). but like on the guitar you use your thumb for finger picking and such. if you're going to just play with your index and middle, you might as well just place your thumb on the top of the body or by the strings. i was told to never rest your hands on the body or else they would get lazy and such, so im pretty strict that way

and does tim just rub the strings or is it more of a plucking motion? it is such a cool sound i really wanna get it.

more of a plucking but he does it so fast sometimes he rubs.
