There's really no point in arguing over someone not liking a band you do. There are bands I can't stand, and if a big fan of one of those bands played me songs by them and argued their case long enough, it's not like I'm going to say "You know what...you're RIGHT...I love this fucking band now!!!!"
For example, my fiance is really into rap, like 50 cent, eminem, etc... There is NOTHING she could say or do to make me like that stuff. Luckily, she really likes DMB, so we have a medium for car rides, etc...
The one thing I try not to do is say that any band "sucks". My opinion is not the be all and end all of opinions, and if I say a band sucks, because I don't like it, there are still plenty of people out there that worship that band as all of us do DMB. I can't stand it when someone says "that band sucks", just because they're not into it.
Music is a powerful thing, and believe it or not there are people out there that are moved by music by Good Charlotte and Ashlee Simpson. I do not like these two, but I would not say they suck to a fan of theirs and take that away from them.
the only time that i have gotten angry when someone pokes fun at or says my favorite bands suck was last year when i did a radio show on my school station with my buddy alex. everytime i would play a phish song or a dmb song with a long jam in it we come back, hed give it a "well i hope you all like that little venture into elevator music. they played a bunch of weird elevator music for about ten minutes and then came back and were singin about god knows what, but whatever if you like that then we whatever. up next we have saturday in the park by chicago..."

Couldn't agree more. I think Layne Staley has the most unique voice. And usually the reason people don't like Alice in Chains is because of his voice, which is beyond me.

If he doesn't like Dave's voice, there's no real way to avoid that. I can totally, totally understand hating Dave's voice. I just happen to like wierd voices.

Haha, and then he goes into Chicago? That's pretty much a jam band who just cuts down the jam's on the album. Ever seen 'em live? They go off.
