Alvarez 12 string

Post by Nitro1515 »

I've been searching the boards and it seems as though everyone likes the Alvarez Jumbo as the best 12 string out there for the price. I'm going to my local guitar shop tomorrow and I'm going to order a 12 string, do you guys think I should go with the Alvarez or is there something better out there that I'm not aware of. Here is a pic of the Alvarez if you don't know which one I'm talking about. http://www.alvarezgtr.com/heartprodpgs/ ... 60S12.html

Yeah I read some of your posts about it and you give it high praise so I think I'll get it. What is a good price for it because my store has been known to rip people off. And also did you have to set it up at all or is it good to go right out of the case.

I'll play it if they have it in the store and I'll try out whatever other 12 strings they have on hand. But even if I don't get a chance to play it and I end up not liking it when I get it then I can return it because they have an easy return policy so it wouldn't be a big deal.

I was thinking about getting a alvarez 12 string, maybe at the end of March.

I think im gonna go with the AJ60SC-12. Its around 600$ but seems to be worth every penny. the pre-amp and acoustic pickup is one of the best out there, I think its called the 600T. It even has a built in tuner.

I have been researching them for about 3 weeks, and everybody that has one seems to love it to death.

i cant wait for my alvarez, if you do get yours nitro post a full review :)

Well guys I went to my guitar shop today and I checked out some 12 strings. I played a Fender, Epiphone, 2 different Takamines and a 2,100 dollar Gibson which is way out of my price range but it was cool to check out just for kicks. What I found out was that the Fender and the Epiphone were no good, the first Takamine I played was decent, but it didn't have a cutaway or pickup. The second Takamine I played was the one I ended up getting. Its got a cutaway and a pickup on it with a tuner, its the jumbo model. Here is the link to it http://www.takamine.com/?fa=detail&mid=742&sid=69 They didn't have an Alvarez in stock unfortunately, they were going to be coming in next week. The Alvarez jumbo would have ended up costing me about 720 bucks because its 599 and the case is another 100, plus tax and everything. I got my Takamine for 600 with the case, so I saved a good amount and got a guitar that everyone seemed to think was just as good as an Alvarez. I was playing all the Lillywhite Sessions songs on it in the store and it sounded really good, can't wait to pick it up tomorrow. I'll post more about it then when I hook it up to my amp and really hear what it can do.

Yeah I know, I really wanted to try it because it does look like a beauty, but they aren't coming in until Tuesday and I got to head back to school so I decided to get the Takamine while I was there because I didn't want to wait until I came home again in another couple weeks.

I have that Alvarez 12er. I like it a lot. It's got a bright sound with the maple, and because it's jumbo, has a nice full bass. Together, it's a great combo.

I'm trying to consolidate my guitars and I was thinking of selling it. If you're interested, let me know.
