forgot to mention modest.
drugs do play a role in music, i mean you can't tell me that beatles early stuff was better then during their drugged out phase. a lot of people create great music while under the influence, i think it definately aids in creativity sometimes.
Ranting Thespian wrote:I am clean and I am a very good musician and a very good singer and a very good writer. There are many people who do drugs who aren't creative at all. In some instances people who are really creative have had hard lives, and drugs come into play as a way out, not a source of creativity. There are many different ways that drugs come into play without a source of creativity behind them.
i thought you eat alot of pills.
Gravel in your shoes may be diamonds, but it hurts anyway..
haha this reminds me of the family guy episode where peter can only play piano when hes drunk haha great episode great show but on topic
i agree with whoever said it doesnt help talent but adds to creativity
it somewhat good for me to be baked while i play guitar but i find it helps best when im just sitting down making lyrics...pot really seems to help me write lyrics

they also helped create the idea of santa...saw it on the discovery channel once bunch o' eskimos needed some food to eat and had none and figured theyd eat the shrooms that the deer always ate...they started tripping and saw a guy in the sky in a sled with a bnuch of deer in front flying

Do you know what kind of music comes from drug free artists? Mmm Bop. Quit Playin' Games With My Heart. The Carpenters and The Partridge Family. All the Hilary Duffs and Britney Spearses, and all the bullshit the infects the airwaves.

do the flecktones promote themselves as a drug free band? just wondering if like its something theyve strived for anything like that. either way dont really matter, theyre ridiculous on stage.
Of course drugs have to do with quality musicianship, just look at the list of names you wrote, ive written the best shit when im ripped, hell we dont practice unless were high

they dont promote themselves but on numerous occasions they state they do not partake in that kind of stuff
ok, cuz someone i knew who "worked" the parking lots at big shows in philly (thus scoring backstage passes every once in a while) once told me about a flecktones show he went to and i remember him mentioning futureman puffing on a blunt, just wondering if he was full of shit or not, oh well who cares hehe
i used to eat alot of acid and still shroom occasionally. i think it's foolish to think using substances makes you a better artist. artists- for the most part, just happen to be foolish and romantic individuals who are not very rational. my personal opinions agree with salvador dali though. he would eat certain parts of sea urchins to achieve the same state most hallucinogens create.
The belief is.............. "try a hallucinogen once just to see how far your perceptions can be pushed. "(If you haven't, you really can't understand.)
He also says do it only once so your work is not distracted by this becoming recreational. Which I believe is a good idea.
Bottom line is...........no. drugs don't make you any more creative than you are.

This is so F(*$%ing smart............ Compare that list to the millions of people that use and are too obsessed with their habit to create anything at all. Of course out of those millions of people some are going to be amazingly talented. That's really sad you don't practice unless your high.
