the only part of the gorge DVD I like is the part where carter and roi go flying in the helicopter.
"Fly like an eagle...."
"Fly like an eagle...."

Yeah, but they leave the menu on the screen the entire time. Not cooljellyfish wrote:Is this the one included in the CD set? If so they have multi-angle views if you don't like the default angles.i like tictacs wrote:reasons why the gorge dvd sucks:
its random songs from random nights in no particular order for the most part
the editing is so choppy and spliced
THE ANGLING OF THE CAMERA PISSES ME OFF TO NO END
The dvd has no flow
overall it's just a hackjob of a DVD. they could have really put so much more on it.
and the cd's are the best part. tons of songs that the band mostly played well all three nights. good variation except for gig, which i don't even really mind. LW is really nice all the time, but i hate wayg, but i guess you get what you get when you get LW.

Well, for one, I thought, even tho badly mixed, GGP show was a great way to throw a curveball for the live releases. The new breakdown in Too Much, the beat change in ASTB, the added latin style drums in watchtower to complement Santana, I thought Sugar Will, the intro, was sick. I thought it was, show wise, a great and new feeling release. I think its a preview that DMB has finally grown so balls and decided to change things up once and while. I cant wait for this band to get a little older, cause it seems the older these guys get the more exciting and new their music gets. These are my feelings 8)

Like a fine wine, they get better with age.
I just hope Dave doesn't smoke so much that his voice craps out.

The reason I am worried is because if you listen to his voice on weeklydavespeak.com it gets lower and raspier as the years progress. I think about guys like Tom Petty, David Bowie, Bob Dylan, and Mick Jagger, whose smoking tore their once decent voices to shreds.

Tom Petty isnt that bad even in his old age now, but you do have a point. Personally, all the names you just listed are dinosaurs; guys who are nearing there late 50's, 60's, and 70's, so it could just easily be the years of singing that their voices had to endure. In any case, daves voice is getting raspy, quickly, I mean even tho it seems longer, DMB has really only been singing for a good 16yrs , and if his voice goes down the trail its headin, who knows what his voice will sould like in another 5yrs.
Altho I have to admit I enjoy daves raspy voice, his voice back ni the old days got into my head and annoyed the shit out of me at sometimes... whining if you ask me. Nonetheless I love DMB!!!

I'll just pray for dave that he quits smoking for the sake of his kids and his wife and career. I think he is a smart enough man to realize when enough is enough. After all he did managed to stimey his acid days.

we never know, dave could be tripping balls on stage day in, day out for all we know (doubtful but still). on a sidenote, in 1970 or sometime around then, a major league pitcher threw a no hitter (walked 8 and hit one batter though) and later admitted that he was on a strong dose of lsd and wasnt sure whether to attribute the no hitter to the drug or the wild pitches, i found it amusing hehe
