how?
besides going to the local shop, does anyone know procedures to install a pickup into an acoustic? I am just curious since it would seem rather difficult...

I installed mine myself (B-Band AST+A1). Endpin preamp, so you just use a 1/2" drill bit to widen the endpin hole that's already there, and attach the preamp on the inside with a nut holding the preamp + guitar plug in place. The preamp has two cables that you run along the inside of the guitar, against the sides (includes clamps) - one goes to the battery, which I installed on the side of the neck block, and the other goes to the actual pickup, which is installed on the underside of the bridge. Both the pickup and battery block use a simple adhesive backing.

it depends on type, a soundhole one is pretty easy, but a piezo or one with an onboard eq will be much much harder

I agree, very good instructions. However, to get the most out of it you should let a luthier/tech do it. They will machine the pocket in your bridge as well as the bottom of the saddle piece to insure 100% flatness.
