sounds nice, good use of your thumb separating the bass and rythym. sorta smooth acoustic folk/jazz. I like it but it still needs a melody on top of it. I think you can still do it with the one guitar though-

yeah i could use a melody for the non-fingerpicking part... and i kinda already like the melody on the fingerpicking part...

IUMA dosnt check to see if you have covers up!

the more that i think about it you dont need any more of a melody(its a very nice song), I just know that when i play out people kinda dont listen as close to instrumental fingerstlye type music(which sucks, becuase i love listening to it). But youre stuff sorta reminds me of leo kottke, john fahey, lindsey bukingham(fleetwood mac), but jazzier.

yeah that fingerpicking part was definitely inspired by "big love"...

it's kinda unfinished though, i just recorded it real quick because i needed at least one song to get the site up, i probably re-record it later and polish it up...

thanks for the "jazzier" comment

, my intent was to meld my knowledge of jazz into a fingerpicking style song, i guess i got lucky with the outcome...

yea i love "big love", the straight steady bassline while the fingerpicking goes at its own rythym. Its really cool because it makes it sound like two guitars are playing. Yea i liked the jazzy feel to it, how long have you been playing/studying jazz?

very cool...I love this kind of music...I absolutely love when it picks up around 2 min into it man =) ...sounding like Offspring by Tim Reynolds...you could add another track that would liven it up a bit...I have a song very much like this called October...kinda an improv I never completed (but which of my songs is lol)...I really like it man...great to hear originals...two thumbs up

to answer juineaux's question...

not that long really, just about two years. but i really studied theory hard (and it just kinda came naturally) because i had to make up for a lack of ear and playing experience... (just over two years, YIKES!)

to answer fire's question...

i use a fostex MR-8. it has eight tracks of recording, but the memory card for it is very inadequate. so i don't mix on it, i record tracks then put them on the comp and mix it down with acid pro (giving me unlimited tracks MUWHAHAHA

).

usually i run my acoustic into the MR-8's XLR (because the 1/4" input sucks) by way of an amp, but not on this recording. i just wanted to do it quick and didn't feel like setting my amp up. it'll sound a lot better when i re-record it and run it through the amp and use my DD-3 and Danelectro chorus...

I love the whammy bar sound he gets...he doesn't bend the headstock...I believe he pushes the string of note just above the nut...that is what Doyle Dykes does...man that takes some finger power

yeah, i love doing that! its real easy on the tele i have because the little thing that holds down the b and e string (don't know what its called) was removed. the e string has about six inches from the nut to the peg, so i can do some crazy stuff...

and sometimes, even though i know its wrong, i slightly bend the neck on my acoustic to get that great effect (in fact i've done it a lot, and my guitar doesn't seem to be affected too much
