stupid question, I'm sorry

I am so angry right now, I can't string my electric guitar. I can't get the high E to stay on the little tuner knobs and I DON'T KNOW WHY! I'm trying to wind it tight, but it just keeps sliding up and then I just have a big coil at the end of my guitar string. this is so frustrating. any help would be appreciated

bend it with a pair of needlenose pliers to like a 45 degree angle. then its stay no problem

Did you try the wrapping method...where you loop the string back so it catches itself when it winds?

I just can't understand how you're supposed to do it though. it has the hole, but it's open at the top so it can just pop up whenever the hell it wants to.

Oooo...it's one of the old-school telecaster type tuners. I have no idea how to string one of those. I think basses are the same way, so ask a bassist.

hold your finger ontop of it while tuning up to keep tha string in there, when it gets tight itl hold
