theres been a few questions on the board that related to which first - lyrics or music..... i was just wondering how some people wrote lyrics?
Sort Of A Protest Song wrote:I don't know if this is shameful or not, but after waking up in a girls bed that was really high up off the ground (almost top-bunkbed type high) I told her that if I fell off I'd "come back to life as a white wizard". I was still a bit tipsy. She did not laugh.

Lyrics are really hard for me to write, i ussually improvise something a few times with a general idea and then collect my ideas and write them down. I have wrote lyrics before the music a few times though, ussually my music is alot simpler(simple open chords) when i do it that way, Which isnt always a bad thing-
I try to focus on my voice and the melody more than the actual lyrics

Im not very good about writing lyrics so dont listen to me :-p

Usually if i do come up with something i have to totally clear my head and think of nothing...eventually something comes along either some humming or actual words. Eventually when im playing the song something comes together.

its a lot easier for me to write lyrics than anything on the guitar for me at least. but lyrics come kinda naturally even though they're not any good.
if i were giving advice to someone on how to fly.....

id probably say throw yourself at the ground..and miss.
