Want to ask about strings, maintenance, amps, mics, or comparisons of different guitars or any music equipment? This is for all threads related to music equipment.
In your own opinion, what is the best gauge of strings for use on an acoustic guitar? When i got mine, it had 12's on it, then i replaced with 11's. Today i got some 10's, but I'm not sure if thats the right descision or not. Will the ease of playing benefit outweigh the loss of tone? Any help you can give would be appreciated...
Random movie quote to make you seem hip and "with it": The food court is downstairs. The cookie stand is upstairs. It's not like we're talking quantum physics here.
The best choice are .12's. Of course it will differ with your playing style, but .12's should be perfect. I find .11's too thin for me, and could never use .10's on an acoustic. You'll probably experience buzzing with guages that low on an acoustic.
I use lights when playing in standard and mediums when playing in dropped tunings. Mediums tuned to concert pitch are unwieldily. Ideally you would want two guitars for this but I'm broke.
I don't think this is really a question you can ask everyone. Isn't it dependent on your guitar, setup , and personal preferences? I know my guitar sounds like shit with anything other than light.

Yeah come to think of it, mine sounded pretty crappy with med-lights. Haha, but the Taylor I played sounded beautiful with em.
