so that makes him a good match for dmb???

i'm not questioning him or any of the artists he's worked with. i enjoy many of them (guilty pleasures). i just don't know if that's how i want dave to sound.

plus, after everyday, i'm a little nervous about any new album.

exactly. and when the band talks about new directions...i know that can be good just as much as it can be bad...its just it scares me that another everyday could be unleashed. and unfortunately, dave matthews band will lose a definite amount of its fan base if they put out something else like that....we all know that.

K, this is the first glimpse... give them some credit, this album is still in the brainstorming stage. Wow... it's funny how quickly you all say "OH NO! IT'S GOING TO SUCK!" Just be patient, jeez.

Another thing to keep in mind is that the band doesn't want to release another Crash, UTTAD, BTCS, Busted Stuff, Everyday, whatever... They all repeatedly say they wanna start something fresh. So if it's new and you don't like it, oh well, you could eat shit for all they care, they just wanna make music like they know how.

However, I do wish they would've picked a different producer I'll admit that that may have not been the wisest decision.

I am worried about the band totally making the four songs it has played live completely different in the studio, and that they may or may not sound as good. Like cry freedom and two step, they butchered those song in the studio by electrifying and adding creepy backup vocals, respectively. However, a song like sugar will might sound cool with a clean electric. Hello Again might gain even more raw power than it already has with some electric fills in the same way too much and rapunzel do.
Forget about the reasons and the treasons we are seeking
Forget about the notion that our emotions can be swept away, kept at bay
Forget about being guilty, we are innocent instead
For soon we will all find our lives swept away

They'd lose their older fan base (us), but I'm thinking they'd gain a lot of more mainstream fans with another Everyday-esque album. Not saying I like it (always was steered away from it by...Mikey), but just a thought.

And yeah, the stuff on the site I heard was kinda scaring me. Didn't sound like the summer shows at all. But I'm still hoping for the best.

it would be nice if they had a producer who was more in touch with their roots and more into the jam band music but its ultimatly up to the band, the finished product is their decission, and its not like this guy is gonna write half their lyrics like glen ballard, this guy is all about letting the band do their thing and these will be some authentic dmb songs so i really dont see whats to be afriad of. im not sure but i heard that for everyday they spent very little time in the studio working on the songs and got it done like in a matter of weeks, they seem to be putting a good amount of time and effort into this project and other than that song in the background (which in my opinion really just sounds like a lil jam that the whole band can be drunk n sing together haha) ive really loved the songs n lyrics theyve been comming up with latley, just my opinion though...

i think the deal with everyday was ballard and dave sat down in a room, wrote all the songs in a very short amount of time, and ballard presented the band members with music that they did whatever with. this is what i HEARD.

When it was dave and glen writing alone it turned out horrible. ...
but the full band together is gonna be great. this new producer seems very clear about it being about THEM.
Not to mention Leroi is gonna be helping alot in this one ^_^ (leroi be the man)
According to the dmband.com bio, he arranged alot of the songs... (like Ants Marching)..
The band is at its best when they can brainstorm and be free.. plus.. prior to everday wasnt dave recovering from depression?
I hope this new album will produce stuff that you can tell the band LOVES to play, like warehouse, what would you say, everyday, angel, bartender, crush, jimi thing, two step...rapunzel...
WHAT MONTH IS SPRING?!
