Moonshine cover (Jack Johnson)

Post by fenster1977 »

this is the first time I've ever recorded myself. but after fiddling around with Cool Edit Pro multitrack recording, I just had to do play with it. i actually laid down these tracks a few months ago, but never got around to mixing them down. and i don't even have my guitar with me this month, so i can't redo any of it...frustrating.

so this is Moonshine. it's three tracks: the rhythm, mids and the solo.

the solo is pretty sloppy, especially at the end. i still haven't gotten to where i can keep good time when i'm soloing. i'm alot happier with the rhythm, even though its a pretty simple progression.

comments and critiques please...

ahh...i didnt do the whole "right click and save as" thing....

not bad at all bud...im not a big jack johnson fan, but that was pretty good...your solo'ing was a little better then i expected to hear, going by what your comments said...your right about your timing, but your close...just keep working with it, you'll get it...being its your recording, very nice job on that...how come no vocals though?

there are none...it's an instrumental

here's the original for comparison.

i'm not one to pirate c'righted music, so i've lowered the bitrate a bit. plus i wanted it smaller

nice job... you nailed the rhythm. sounded excellent. the solo sounded very good too, beside some minor mistakes like you said. your make of the song definitely gave the same mellow surfing mood as the original.. i could just hear the sound of waves at the end. do you have any other recordings? i wouldn't mind hearing some more.

if i had some, i'd post them. but that's it. i had started a session covering Amen Omen (B. Harper), but I didn't finish it, and I can't find the original tracks that were linked to it.

and like i said, no guitar at the moment (flew home to my parents w/o mine). but i've got some christmas money and I might be making a new purchase this week to take back with me 8) 8)

i'm gonna post on the equipment board for some advice on that purchase, if anyone's interested in helping me out :D
