Typical Situation strumming

Hey guys. I am a beginner and I started out with Proudest Monkey and have that one down. Now I am trying to learn typical and i got the intro down as it is very easy. I am now doing the chorus part and I can get the fingering ok but I am having trouble with the strumming. Is the whole thing downstrokes or are there upstrokes mixed in I can't really tell very well. Any help is appreciated.

I don't think there is any real definite u or d strokes in the chorus...just stum freely...mix in some ups when you feel it...strumming (rythmn) is very vital to a good guitarist...just keep working on it...it will come in time, and your ear will prove to be your best friend

I tend to strum down on the hammer-ons, and for each chord change. That is at least my way of playing it. Not saying its correct, but give it a try. . .
