Good luck making it. or just save up and buy one man. work a month and you have enough. i have confidence in wood working, but making a guitar is a whole new world than cabinets and chairs. you're build for sound and one single sound lead ruins everything.
if you're willing to put in the hard work and truly devote yourself to it tho, you will have something better than you could ever buy, regardless of how it sounds. if he has his heart set on building it then encourage him, dont try to change his mind.
I think its great that he's building his own guitar but expecting it to be better than what you can buy from a skilled luthier on your first try is just asking for dissapointment. You need to go into it with the attitude to learn and hopefully have a "decent" guitar at the end. If building superior guitars were so easy you could do it on your first try there wouldn't be people making a living off it.

i dont think he plans to re-set the curve in the industry, i think he plans to build something he can play and be proud of. if you (not specifically YOU mjazk) have no desire to build your own guitar its hard to understand, i do want to build my own, and i have built my own electric already. the feeling of playing it knowing you made it is unmatched.

I wish I had the skill to build one. I practically failed industrial arts in HS. I remember we had to make a candle holder with deer and my deers heads were all disformed and different sizes

I think my instructors exact words are "you are the absolute worst student I have ever had"
