Epiphone Dot

Post by Jakis »

HI, im looking to pick up an electric guitar for around 600 Canadian. I have fell in love with the epiphone dot and the ibanez artcore. Anyone have either of these guitars and what are peoples thoughts on them.

Cheers,

i had the exact same decision to make like 4 months ago, i had it down to those two. but then i met the chet. needless to say i bought that.

but regarding these two, i have done ALOT of research on them and i had decided on the ibanez. it plays better, sounds better, and looks better. it got better reviews as well (from what i could find) i played them both and i too liked the ibanez better. I'd go with that one

Unless you have to have that Jazzy hollowbody sound I'd go with one of these

Fender, American made, cheap!
I have the HSS (humbucker in the bridge position) And I LOVE IT! If you have to have the hollow, go with the artcore, they're not bad for their pricerange.

I do not like the dot. If you are getting an epiphone for that style in the price range, get a Casino.

I have a dot. It is nice. Especially for jazz, blues... but I don't play it much since I don't want to bring it to my dorm and get it all banged up.

I like both Dot and Casino. Both sound great with a mild overdrive.

i own a dot, though i got it for $150 cuz the store owner was also my teacher and just wanted to hook me up with a good electric. i borrowed my friends casino while my dot was getting hooked up but to be honest i missed the playabilty of my dot. dont know exactly what it was but the casino just never felt right in my fretting hand, just couldnt pump the leads out like i could on the dot. it really is preference, i suggest giving both a try cuz theyre both quality hollowbodies for the price. i just cant get over the sound of my dot going through my compressor/sustain pedal and my crybaby, really gets you up for conquering some trey anastasio licks, good luck with your decission!
