Doyle Dykes

Unread post by Jer1400 » Tue Nov 23, 2004 2:09 am

He's doing a bunch of Taylor Guitar Workshops pretty soon, so if he's coming to a music store near you, I highly recommend you go see him play. If you don't know who he is, something is wrong with you. Nah, but if you don't you can go to http://www.doyledykes.com and download some audio/video clips, or find songs/video on a file-sharing network of some sort.

For places/dates check the calender at http://www.taylorguitars.com.

he is an amazing guitarist...little too country for me at times, but he has that signature "pitch bending" technique achieved by pressing the string above the nut...kinda hurts the finger though lol

if you guys like Doyle Dykes, you should check out Willy Porter. He's a Milwaukee based guitarist that's amazing. Download his song Moonbeam and see what I mean.

Yeah, man. Thanks for the tip, his stuff is a good listen indeed. Pat: you should check this guy out 'cause his playing is kind of like yours. Heh.

Is anyone else planning to see Doyle on the 8th, 9th, or 10th? I'm going to try to hit all of those shows (which means about 4 hours of driving over those three days O.o). I need to come up with some gas money quick... Plus tomorrow I'm heading out to ARCO Arena for another concert thing, but not to watch; I have some business to take care of early on the morning there. XD

Hey, is anyone else catching the show in Oroville today? I'm leaving in four hours and it's about a 2-hour drive for me, but I hope to make it on time (or perhaps a bit early). Last night both Doyle and his daughter gave wonderful performances. They're really, really nice, too. I'm looking forward to attending this show, so let me know if you will be there so we can talk Dave, or Doyle... Or better yet, play some Dave or Doyle. :D

Cheers,
Jer
