I need help please..

I just got a yamaha dgx205 keyboard and i've connected it via usb to my pc but firstly I cant get anything ove recorded on to the computer and also I cant get any sound to come out the speakers? The damn is really vague..

Can someone help me please?

The only thing I can think of (but I'm a moron so it doesn't really count) is to make sure that whatever program you're using has USB set as the input.
