First gig?! oh crap! O.o

Post by Raif2032 »

Alright well, me and the guys I play with have our first gig, it's this corporate christmas party thing at a country club. Getting paid and everything. it's kind of short notice so we don't really have enough songs prepared. We have 2 guitarist and a violin.

Here's our setlist so far (little heavy on dave)...

Typical Situation
Dancing nancies
Ants marching
Crush
#41
November rain (guns and roses)
Wild Horses (stones)
Volcano (damien rice)

yeeeah....so um, any ideas for songs that are easy to put together that aren't dave and would be appropriate for a christmas party? christmas songs are viable options too.

Could use some help, thanks guys :)

nah, that's not the order, we'll probably start with typical and end with ants (ants is our best song).

Any suggestions on songs that are easy to put together in a few days?

For a Christmas song you guys should do God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen. The Barenaked ladies do an awesome version of that song on their Xmas album here.

It looks pretty easy to play as well.

I would play some more up-beat and familiar music. Get some Led Zeppelin in there or something people will more readily recognize. Also add some stuff that will get people swaying and not weeping in their drinks. Although I love the song, pieces like The Blower's Daughter is way too emotional and kind of dreary for a live performance at an event like that. My opinions, of course.
