i read somewheres that his character is kinda crazy and feels comfortable holding his guitar, somethings along those lines. Later in the trailor it shows him playing (barely) and he says "I was playing for the animals, I think they like it" something like that

a crazy new song would be weird. I also wonder how he would do in something besides a children flick, thats 2 of them now

in rolling stone he says that he would never wanna play his guitar in a movie but he enjoyed it or wanted to anyway or something like that.

Agreed, Dave is a funny guy
I also liked how is kinda crazy in the movie and he was playing for the animals and they liked it....it almost seems like he was saying a metaphor to his fans haha, "I just play for the animals, they seem to like it"
