new song "out of the blue"

Post by dmbguitar718 »

My rhythm is horrible in this recording, so I'll redo it eventually, but for now, it will have to do. I'm still working on section placement in this one. I don't know if I like how it ends either.

I think this will come together nicely when you have everything smoothed out.
Maybe try it more stacatto to emphasize that bouncy feeling.

really great feel to this one. i like how the smooth the breakdown around 1:30-1:55 goes right into the main part again. the timing flubs didn't bug me at all since i could hear how it was meant to sound. i like the percussive style you have on this one. that's one thing i love about Don Ross' stuff. i look forward to hearing the finished product.

what is your recording setup pat? i saw the pics from that thread showing your mic setup. what mics/software/ usb device are you using? the quality is excellent.

me like, although in the beginning the guitar riff sounds off a tad.

btw how many people have asked you 4 your recording setup? it seems like an awful lot.

edit: is that just 2 layers?

This is my setup:

Audio Technica AE3000
Audio Technica AE5100
-into-
Digidesign M-box (Into computer, via USB)

...and Pro Tools LE Software.

And it's one track, if thats what you meant by "layers".

yep, i'm not a fan of overdubbing on acoustic guitar pieces. (although i've done it in the past)

That's funny, because my dad noticed the same thing. Total coincidence though. Usually that kind of stuff bothers me because I'd be like "Well I guess I was thinking about it", but for this one, I was going for an entirely different feel, and I wasn't even thinking about Ohio.

Oh, and all the recordings on my site, save "A Step Forward" were recorded via my old crappy setup. I now have the good shit. :)
