lap steel

i just recently acquired a chandler lap steel guitar. ive been playing guitar for about 5 years. does anyone here know how to play lap steel well, or know any excercises i start doing? thanks

that video is pretty cool, I play a little bit of slide, I didn't learn anything but it's was just awesome to hear. I saw a thing from kelly joe phelps on fingerstyle, and it really helped. He's awesome

robert randolf typically plays a pedal steel....which is crazy. i think hes got 14 strings set up on his. if you lke him...and you havent heard "the word" you should download some of it. its randolf, john medeski and the lead to the north mississippi allstars. its real cool stuff

ya i know lap steel has 6 sring and pedal has 10 but still if he can play pedal steel like that he has to be good with lap steel.

Pedal Steel is different in that you you can change the pitch of a string on the fly using "pedals".

What's a good lap steel that's relatively inexpensive? How is that Chandler?

i only breifly researched lap steels before i bought this one. the chandler is pretty nice, i paid about 350 when i was said and done. but you can find a good one for pretty cheap on ebay for 100-150.

I saw Robert Randolf and the family band when they opened for Clapton this summer, it was amazing! I already had the album and I was still blown away

hey juineaux, i had not heard of kjp until you gave me that link. but i definetly liked it. i went out and bought one of his cds. are his songs simple in nature, i mean are the easily playable. if so does he have a book or where would you recomend i look for some of his music?
