Why share dvds? Avi or MPG...

I dont get this. Why do you share dvds, they're over 3 Gigs. Just convert to Avi or MPEG, more would be able to download it and the instead of 3 gigs, it would be 300 MB. Not much quality different if the conversion is good.

like danny said, they're lossy formats. The main point here is that most of us- burn these to dvd blanks, and watch them on our dvd players.

.Avis & Mpegs like mp3s, become very lossy over time. :)
