Hardware question: What do you use?

Please show me... I use a regular computer microphone. I had a Labtech before, it was good, but then it broke. So i got a new mic, but it sounds too bright, it doesn't bring out the warm of your voice and guitar. How do you record your music to your computer? What mic do you recommend?

can you actually plug your guitar into the computer?

i'm in the same boat hopefully someone knows, i think maybe those vertical dealies i've seen that people have on their desktops might be what we're looking for.......i'll look around and find something.

OH my god, thats awesome!! absolutely awesome, but its too expensive, i'd like to keep it under 30 bucks lol. Please someone, help me out, it doesn't have to be too advanced.

Well, if you've ever used those two things in your head that God so graciously blessed you with called eyes, you would notice that your microphone and line-in jacks are not, unless you by chance have a special soundcard, the same size as the end on your guitar cable. I'm trying not to be too technical here, but, when that's the case, it won't fit. Wow. You want cheaper than $30, go to Radio Shack, buy a 1/4" -> 1/8" adaptor. Maybe $5. That will make the cable fit- if you can figure out how to plug everything in correctly. You'll need a recording program, maybe do a search on here or perhaps Google, if you know what that is.

i use an adapter and it works perfectly, its not complicated to hook up at all. download audacity to record and mix.

lol, anyway, I just got a logitech desktop mic for 20 bucks, very good sounding, love it. thank you.

A little over the top for what you guys are talking about. But I use a Roland VM3100 pro mixer interfacing to the computer with a RMBII card.
A couple of AKG and Sure mics with a BlueTube
mic preamp. Recording into Sonar 3 PE.
Works slick.
For something that sounds better than a $12 soundcard, you will have to drop more that $30.
You get what you pay for.

Don't listen to anyone. Technologly is only as good as the person who is using it. Since you are just starting out go buy a Shure Beta 58...or a 57. You can use a 58 for vocals... a 57 for vocals aswell. They are like a 100 dollars...but it is really worth it... if you want a $30 mic set up go for it... the more power to ya... and if you make it sound good... then you have acomplished more than any person with tons of nice mics and consoles... just have fun with it. I say that because this is what I do... I'm an audio engineer for a living and I love to answer peoples questions on here!!!
You can tons of nice stuff but it matters about how good the man behind the console is......... Enjoy.
