How's this:

first time i learn to restring a guitar, i start with the LOW E string, yes, the big fat thick one. of course i go waaaay too far and that shit snaps off wraps around my hand twice then slices it. hahaha.

I used to thing finger style was the best.. But now using a pick or thumb pick along with your fingers sounds much nicer. Gives it a much crisper sound.
Its like... getting two birds stoned at once. (Ricky-trailor park boys).

Seriously, do you people just never play? I go through two or three strings a week at MINIMUM, and at least a pick every two weeks. And I don't even play that hard, and fingerpick quite often.
Stay with me, safe and ignorant.

I have not once tried to break a string from playing .... You might be playing way too aggressive , or hit the strings in an angle that makes your picks , cut down in the strings , until they snap .... Just a thought

That is how my G string broke last time , from going too much up and down in tunings , all of the sudden the strings just won't allow that anymore

Yeah, 'cause I play 4-5 hours a day and the only time I broke a string was during a tuning accident a long time ago when I didn't know what the hell I was doing. When I do lead stuff on my acoustic I'm playing decently hard, too. Full bends and whatnot. Usually some Plant/Hendrix classic rock type stuff. :/

You're picking too hard.

Everyone breaks strings. It happens.
