I use a floating thumb technique anyway
And there is no way a passive corvette can compare to a modjewlus

blech... =no strength in your attack.
its hard to slap with your thumb on the pup. plus i can mute better if my thumb isn't always anchored.

i do the same thing either that or rest my thumb on the E-string.

I would never sell any of my instruments that I worked hard for.. It just doesn't seem right.. I don't care if it is better or not..I'd work hard for it and keep my others that I worked just as hard for

well i dont keep my thumb anchored either...i just like the feeling of playing over the neck pickup,im used to the resistence of the strings at that point so i tend to play there most often. and slapping...i dont slap with my thumb on the pickup either...i move between the neck pickup and the neck to slap. but i do agree that the corvette passive electronics are weak compared to the modulus

it's much easier to play more dynamically without resting it, and it's not like the single pickup that comes on the modulus is in a bad place. it was right between the two J pups on the vette, which is perfect, if you want to go there.
And I don't see whats wrong with upgrading your equipment. I'm going to be much more happy to see a flea on my stand then a vette, it saved me 6 months of work and the vette just couldn't cut it for me with the tone i wanted. why keep something around that you'll never use?

Sometimes i'll rest my finger on E or A to mute them, it moves around. i guess you could call it half-anchoring, but i almost never anchor when i play a five string because there's a bigger reach to the higher strings and you get alot of sympathetic vibration.

well i don't mean you always have to anchor on the pickup... of course you have to anchor on the e and a... but i mean you always anchor somewhere..
