Man....you can not just play led zepplin without knowing them,...a real drummer would be furious to hear a drummer drift too far from jon bonham's beats....and tabs are not pointless...you guys probably just cant read them is your problem. drummers can learn lots by studying the music as much as they play it...gotta know when to improvise and where and how by looking at tabs and listening to the music and studying it

Theres lots of great ones in Modern Drummer, I cant remeber which issue but one that came out within the last year had a great tab of grey street and though it isnt one of carter most difficult songs to play it really cleared up some parts i was unsure of and which hand goes where.
How are you gonna show that a Tab is wrong?? I'll agree that a WRONG tab is not worth looking at

Dude, that is not tablature. Modern Drummer (Im a subscriber myself, and remember that issue) shows actual bars and phrases. I dont believe that is tabs.carter29 wrote:Theres lots of great ones in Modern Drummer, I cant remeber which issue but one that came out within the last year had a great tab of grey street and though it isnt one of carter most difficult songs to play it really cleared up some parts i was unsure of and which hand goes where.

btw, it should be up to you about which hand goes where, that is more about efficiency and what Carter does (unless you do play open) wouldnt be very efficient if you play cross handed. The hardest part for me to play open was just making my left hand much stronger. It was already faster then my right (jazz and all the sanre comping) but it didnt have the strenth need for the driving things Carter does. After a while I gave up just because it was fucking up my jazz and Id rather play jazz to the best of my ability then play Carter.

wrong on more levels than the "accuracy" of itcarter29 wrote:Theres lots of great ones in Modern Drummer, I cant remeber which issue but one that came out within the last year had a great tab of grey street and though it isnt one of carter most difficult songs to play it really cleared up some parts i was unsure of and which hand goes where.

i dont have a problem with tabs for fretted instruments. but other instrument tabs, especially non-stringed instruments, are ludicrous
